Team Birch Equipment placed #1 Overall in the 2022 iconic Ski to Sea race. The team will again be captained by powerhouse kayaker and local Bellinghamite Jeff Hilburn. Birch is a proud ongoing sponsor of this amazing community event. 

Meet the 2023 Birch Equipment Ski to Sea Team! 

Cross-Country Skier, Finn Redman (16 yrs old!!)
Canadian National Champion in the Sprint and 15k distances for U18. Last year while racing for Birch Finn was the 2nd faster skier last year at age 15!

Downhill Skier – Adam Loomis (31 years old)
Current US Skimo National Team Member (ski mountaineering), US Nordic Combined Team Member 2012-2018, first time Ski to Sea Racer! Birch welcomes Adam as a first time Ski to Sea competitor! 

Runner – John Whelan (28)
Ran for Washington State University in college. In the 2022 Ski to Sea John was only 3 seconds behind the fastest runner, John ran a 37:17 for the 8 mile course!

Road Cyclist – Matt Bailey (41)
Only 2 seconds behind the fastest cyclist last year! 7th place at the 2021 US Masters Road Cycling TT Championship in age category, in Albuquerque. In August ’21. Let that sink in.

Canoe Team – Glenn Bond (49) (stern) & Bob Woodman (60) (bow)
Birch welcomes back the canoe team masters! Glen and Bob were the fastest canoe team in 2022 Ski to Sea and have raced on many championship teams! 

Cyclocross Racer, Jack Shuckra (21)
Fastest cyclocross rider in 2023… translation – Kicks ass!

Kayaker – Jeff Hilburn (53)
Hats off to team captain Jeff Hillburn for pulling the team together
Three time Ski To Sea Champion Team member, straight up kills it on the water with his paddling skills! Hillburn rang the the 2022 Ski to Sea victory bell for Team Birch and is captain of the 2023 Birch Team. Powerful and fearless on whatever Bellingham Bay sends his way.
