Birch Equipment, Bellingham, Washington, will celebrate 40 years in business this year. Birch has one of the largest full-line rental fleets in WA & AK providing remote to urban 24 hour -service to commercial contractors, manufacturing, industrial, government, emergency services, military and home improvement. One of the contributors of Birch’s success has been that Birch has operated with the same core management team for nearly two decades. Sarah Rothenbuhler took over ownership in 1996. “When I took over the company in the mid-90’s, it heat up assets, had been in the red financially for a few years and had staff that was reeling from thinking they were transitioning from a locally owned company to part of an international rental company only to have the purchaser pull out in the final hour with customer and equipment lists and set up new facilities within a mile of two of Birch’s locations.” Rothenbuhler said.
